The Mint in Sydney is a significant heritage site located at 10 Macquarie Street, right in the heart of the city. It stands as the oldest surviving public building in Sydney’s central business district, with a rich history dating back to the early 19th century
The Mint is an early example of classical architectural detailing in Australia, showcasing colonial building techniques from the convict period. The coining factory at the rear represents a significant event in New South Wales’ history—the discovery of gold—and is rich in evidence of minting processes and machinery. Today, The Mint is managed by Museums of History NSW and serves as their head office. Visitors can explore the site’s historical significance through various exhibits and displays.
The Caroline Simpson Library & Research Collection, located within The Mint, is dedicated to the history of houses, their interiors, and gardens, a perfect backdrop for Fermob, whose outdoor furniture celebrates the evolution of garden living with timeless design, colour and craftsmanship.
